Jardín Botánico Martín Cárdenas *** Ogrody Cochabamby

W Polsce zlota jesien a w Boliwii wiosna. Kiedys juz mielismy okazje odwiedzic to miejsce, jednak ledwo przestapilismy brame ogrodu, a zerwala sie ulewa.

Mimo to, milo bylo uciec od zgielku ulicy i pospacerowac aleja uslana platkami fioletowych kwiatow, wsrod wysokich palm, drzew cytrusowych i rzadkich iglakow. Mozna tu spotkac rowniez ciekawe okazy kaktusow, przepiekne lilie i inne kwiaty, znane z polskich ogrodow. A siedzac na mocno zuzytej lawce, mozna wyobrazic sobie, jak pieknie to miejce musialo wygladac w czasach swojej swietnosci, czyli jakies 50 lat temu…

***

In Poland golden autumn and in Bolivia spring . On this occasion we decided to go for a walk in the botanical garden in Cochabamba – Jardin Botanico Martín Cárdenas . We had a chance to visit this place a while ago , but just after having crossed the garden gate, the storm broke off. Drenched to last thread , as there was no place to hide from the rain , we had to return home.
This time it was also cloudy, but we decided to try our luck.

Botanical garden , created in honor of the great  Bolivian botanist Martín Cárdenas Hermosa is located near the city center and the entrance to it is free. And unfortunately , these two facts are the biggest attractions of the place. A bit like in botanical garden in Santa Cruz, where there were more mosquitoes than plants. Interestingly , you can find more tropical specimens in European botanic greenhouses than here, which is a pity , because in this climate everything could (should) grow !

Nevertheless, it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and stroll down the alley strewn with petals of purple flowers, among the tall palm trees , citrus trees and some rare conifers . You can also see interesting specimens of cacti , beautiful lilies and other flowers, known form Polish gardens. And, when sitting on a badly worn bench , you can imagine how beautiful this place must have looked like in its heyday , that is, around 50 years ago …
